Annapurna region - "A GLANCE OF NEPAL"
The Royal Chitwan National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site which lies in the lowlands(Inner Terai) of southern central Nepal, at the foot of the Himalayas, on the international border with India. Chitwan is situated in a river valley basin along the flood plains of the Rapti, Reu and Narayani rivers. The spectacular landscape, covered with lush vegetation and the Himalayas as the backdrop makes the park an area of exceptional natural beauty with rich flora and fauna.CNP plays home to one of the last populations of single-horned Asiatic rhinoceros and is also one of the last refuges of the Bengal Tiger.
The trek from Ghorepani to Poonhill is along the Annapurna Circuit. The highest point of this trek (3200 mtrs) and for many the highlight is an early morning pilgrimage to Poon Hill for a spectacular sunrise over the Himalayas, where the mountains stretch as far as the eye can see North towards Tibet West towards the Dhaulagiri Himal and East with superb views of the Annapurna Himal. Not a difficult trek, but it helps with a reasonable degree of fitness. This trek is considered to be the best for beginners with some spectacular views.
